Biblical Studies and Theology are overlapping fields of study, but they are distinct disciplines in modern academia. To oversimplify, Biblical Studies is more concerned with the historical understanding of biblical texts, whereas Theology is more concerned with philosophical questions about God. Of course, in Christianity studying Scripture and thinking about God are inseparable activities. Nonetheless, as academic disciplines, they each have particular resources.
