ILL: Interlibrary Loan

Using Inter Library Loan to request items not available from Berntsen Library or CLICsearch.

NEW! Changes to Interlibrary Loan

 

Interlibrary Loan is making some big changes this year.  The biggest change is you no longer need to use a different service to request items that you can't find in CLICsearch. We're pretty stoked about this, but we know it will take some adjustment for everyone.  

 

If you want to give it a go on your own - just use CLICsearch

  • ProTip! Make sure you're signed in with your Rock account 
  • For articles you want but you access electronically from CLICsearch - use the request option. 

  • For physical items you can't find at all in CLICsearch - click on the "Interlibrary Loan Request" button in the purple menu bar up top. 
    • fill out that form and submit - we'll take it from there. 

 

If you're not feeling confident in how to tackle this new approach - talk to us.  We definitely want to help you get the materials you need as quickly as possible. Our librarians and student staff are willing to help you through the process. 

 

Users with Existing ILLiad accounts

 

Registered Users can continue to use ILLiad to do the following. 

  • Check your existing request status and due dates
  • Renew checked out items (this may have limited functionality - talk to Becky Schleicher if you have questions)

 

Use of the ILLiad Interlibrary Loan service is being phased out Spring 2021. Existing requests will follow their current process, but new requests are not allowed on this platform. Please refer to the box above for more information or ask a librarian for help. 

*All new Interlibrary Loan requests are now placed in CLICsearch.  Please ask a librarian for help requesting items.

How Materials Are Handled

Once you've place a request here's what you can expect:

 

Articles:

  • All articles are delivered directly to your UNWSP email
  • Usually takes less than 2 days.

 

Physical items:

Delivery times vary depending on where the lending library is. Most local/regional items are available within a few days. Items coming from beyond MN partner libraries could take up to 10 days to arrive. 

 All local users are welcome to use our locker service. 

  • Faculty Staff & On Campus Students: pickup items at the circulation desk or use the locker service
  • On Campus Focus/Grad Students: it is recommended that you pick up your items at the circulation desk. Considering the length of your class schedule and average shipping times mailing items is often not a timely way of getting materials.
  • Distance Students:

    If you live within 20 miles of campus,  we do ask that you come and pick up materials.    Pick Up Required - Radius Map
    Students outside that radius can ask for materials to be mailed.
