Services for Alumni & Visitors

Alumni Privileges

Alumni of the University of Northwestern - St. Paul have access to the Berntsen Library's collections with an alumni card that can be obtained from Alumni Engagement at 651-631-5236.

UNW Alumni Privileges

  • Borrowing books from the Berntsen Library's circulating collections (except curriculum library).
  • Article databases and online resources can be accessed only from the public workstations at the library. Please request a guest login from the Circulation Desk during your visit as your library login is only valid for viewing your account, not requesting resources or viewing them online.
  • Northwestern audiovisual items can be used in-library on our playback equipment.
  • Printing (b&w and color) is $0.05 per page.

Other Libraries to Use

  • Materials from other MnPALS libraries are not available to alumni though you may buy visitor privileges at some MnPALS libraries.
  • Interlibrary loan services are available from your local public library.
  • If you are a Minnesota resident, you have free online access to eLibrary Minnesota (ELM) databases.
  • Did you know that your Minnesota public library card provides one-stop access to five statewide library services? Check them out at MnKnows - Dig Deeper @ Your Library.

Visitor Privileges

Visitors to the University of Northwestern - St. Paul are welcome to use the library's resources while at the library. For those wanting to check out books, a visitor card may be purchased at the circulation desk for $15/year.
