What do you do if you have a Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) number, but you are looking for books in the Library of Congress Classification (LCC) scheme? See the following pages in this guide for help.

Search by Title, Author, Subject Heading, or Standard Number

Search Worldcat.org
Search WorldCat for the book and click-through to library catalogs to see what call number they list. This method may prove more successful for some books than the LC catalog search.
Search the LC Catalog
Search by title of the work to find its entry in the LC Catalog in which you may find listed LC call numbers and DD class numbers. Not all books in the LC Catalog will have this information listed, and you may be unable to find recently published works.
LibraryThing MDS (DDC)
On the Library Thing website, you can browse titles using their interactive Dewey Decimal system to narrow down the classification number and see related LCC numbers in the sidebar to the right.
Additionally, you can search LibraryThing by book title and find both DDC and LCC numbers (when available) in the righthand sidebar on the book's webpage.

You can browse books through the layers of the LCC system on LibraryThing and see related Dewey numbers in the sidebar to the right.
