Affordable Course Materials Support

The Berntsen Library supports the adoption of affordable course materials through the library's liaison program, which serves faculty in traditional, dual enrollment, adult undergraduate, and graduate programs. In addition, we maintain partnerships with Instructional Designers and Academic Technology. Faculty and staff may contact their department's library liaison for help with these services:

  • Content discovery of library-licensed resources
    • While library-licensed resources are not open content, the library subscribes to articles, books, as well as streaming video and audio, that may be linked to course sites and that include copyright permission.
  • Content ordering and access, e.g., multi-user license eBook, upon request
  • Development of library course guides, e.g., MKT1085 Principles of Marketing
  • Discovery of and access to already-available Open Educational Resources
  • General guidance on copyright and fair use questions - contact Jessica Moore at jmmoore@unwsp.edu.

Leveraging Library Collections

Specific examples from courses include the following:

  • Swank Motion Pictures (streaming media) – supports the DE course, Film Appreciation
  • TumbleBook Library (collection of children's e-books) – supports curriculum design by Elementary Education students.

Interdisciplinary e-resources provide a wealth of quality information that may be used as course materials.

  • Databases—contain millions of full text articles and electronic reference books from over 97,000 electronic journals supporting every discipline taught at UNW
