Education Literature Review

The general purpose of a literature review is to organize and critically analyze a portion of published research focused on a specific topic or issue that is relevant to your field. 

 

Literature reviews are used to clarify

  • What information is already known?
  • What research has already been done?
  • What positions and perspectives are taken toward the topic or issue?  (Nelson, 2012)

Background Reading displays items that will provide the background information related to your topic, such as experts that have written in the field, seminal works on the topic, and foundational bibliographies.
